The Employment Situation report ("the jobs report") from the Bureau of Labor Statistics gives the monthly change in nonfarm payroll employment, the unemployment rate, average hourly earnings and hours worked, by industry.
It is the clearest monthly signal of labor-market tightness: how hard it will be to hire, how fast wages are rising in your industry and how confident consumers are likely to feel. It also moves interest-rate expectations.
